Charcoal and ash screenprinted onto handmade paper (recycled artworks, turmeric, oceanwater, foraged plant matter from site)
This image was slowly captured along the Cape Hauy Track on the Tasman Peninsula using a pinhole camera. It was a quiet, warm day in the middle of autumn, and I felt the subtle vibrations of the bush around me. Along the walk I gathered leaves, plants, and flowers, later transforming them into the handmade papers that form the surface of each print. I also collected ocean water on site, which became the solvent for the coffee-based developer. In this way, the film interacted directly with the water, the site itself chemically imprinting its presence onto the image. The final work captures not only the magic of the season but also the collaboration between myself and the environment.
