Emma Sainsbury
Emma is a Sydney-based photographer specialising in landscapes. Her work depicts quiet, detailed scenes that evoke the mood and atmosphere of a place. Influenced by classic fantasy tales and folklore, her images aim to convey not just what she sees but how it feels to be there. Emma gravitates toward capturing compelling light, with subtle, softly illuminated pockets where the true mood and character of a scene emerge. With a background that spans both creative practice and the professional framing and printing industry, Emma is the owner of Prints by Emma and the Co-Founder and Director of Three Edge Framing and Gallery, a space dedicated to supporting artists through custom framing, printing, and curated exhibitions. Her formal education includes a Certificate IV in Photoimaging from TAFE NSW, complemented by workshops with renowned Australian landscape photographers such as Ken Duncan and Cam Blake, where she refined her in-field techniques. Emma’s photographic journey includes eight years working as a portrait photographer, managing photo editing and printing labs.
Emma’s work has been exhibited in several group shows, including “Kaleidoscope”, “Splash”, and “Twenty Five | In the Landscape”, all hosted by Three Edge Studio at M2 Gallery in Surry Hills. She also participated in “In Focus Women”, an international exhibition showcasing 50 women photographers, and was subsequently published in the “In Focus Women 2022” book. Additionally, Emma was awarded third place in the portrait photography category at the Sydney Royal Easter Show.
