My subjects, although deceased, to me still possess a life and personality of their own. This is Franklin the Australian Native Tawny Frogmouth. Through specimens of death I attempt to explore life, arousing our morbid curiosities and finding the beauty in what has passed on. Franklin lays beside the flora of his native home and photographed as a preservation of life after death.

Works are available for free pick up from our Framing partners in North-West Sydney, or available for delivery to Greater Sydney based on a flat fee basis. Jess Leonard is a Sydney based emerging artist working across various photographic mediums, including a recent return to film. Her practice investigates the life and death of birds and animals, arousing morbid curiosities whilst exploring the beauty in what has passed on. Jess graduated Sydney University’s College of Arts majoring in photomedia, and received the Dean’s award for her year. Since then, she has continued to work and study in the arts and museum industry and has made the finals of various prizes, awards, and group exhibitions.
